Types of Gloves

You should consider the form of glove needed for the type of gardening project you’ll be working on. Here are a number of different kinds of gardening gloves:

General gardening gloves are typically made from linen and are machine washable. They are intended to keep hands clean but provide no hand protection. They are also cooler and breathable.

Leather gloves are more costly, but they offer greater protection from thorns, wounds, scrapes, and rough weather.

Rubber-coated gloves are used in environments where chemicals are involved, such as pesticides or herbicides. However, hands may get very hot and sweaty while wearing them, and if you are allergic to latex, you should avoid them. These gloves are composed of synthetic material that helps protect against chemical burns and cuts and scrapes. They are built to be breathable and capable of stretching. Nasty thorns will still harm you.
